Stop CMV Act

The National CMV Foundation is excited to announce that bipartisan federal legislation has been re-introduced in the United States Senate and House to improve early detection and research for congenital CMV!

The Stop CMV Act is championed in the Senate by Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Roger Marshall (R-KS), and in the House by Representatives Mike Lawler (R-NY) and Grag Landsman (D-OH).

The legislation proposes the following:
  • Provide funding for hospitals and healthcare providers to test newborns for cCMV
  • Support state agencies in setting clear standards for newborn testing
  • Create grants to expand cCMV testing, strengthen data collection, and provide education and training
  • Boost research at the National Institutes of Health for better screening, prevention, vaccines and treatment

The Senate version of the bill (S.2842) is available here. The House version of the bill (H.R.7542) is available here.
