Expecting Health: Increasing Awareness Through Partnerships, Platforms, and Influencers

Expecting Health was founded by a group of women with a simple idea: families deserve and should expect more – more support, more guidance, better health. Born from Genetic Alliance, a nonprofit rooted in 33 years of community and family-centered experiences, Expecting Health’s vision is to replace the fear and confusion that many new and expecting parents face with confidence and agency to make the best decisions for themselves and their families. Expecting Health does this by sharing science-based information that reflects the lived experiences of individuals and their families, partnering with key decisionmakers in health, and engaging with families and communities who are at the center of the conversation.
 
With only 9% of pregnant women in the United States aware of congenital CMV, Expecting Health aims to increase awareness through this mini-grant by 1) promoting information about CMV through its major networks and platforms and 2) hosting a lunch and learn event in Washington, DC with national stakeholders and organizations who interact with pregnant women.
