One Child's Journey Towards Independent Mobility
Dr. Kathleen Muldoon is an Associate Professor of Anatomy at Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ teaching anatomy and embryology to medical and allied health students. She also serves as the Chair of National CMV Foundation's Scientific Advisory Committee. Kathleen is mom to three beautiful children, @ProfMuldoon on Twitter, and a fierce parent advocate.
Her middle child, Gideon, was born with congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV). In this video presented to current OT students, Kathleen shares some information about congenital CMV and her son's experiences in working with an occupational therapist. In the last 12-18 months, Gideon has seen tremendous growth in working towards independent mobility! This is an excellent case study as to why parents and professionals must advocate for each individual child's potential.
